Getting things on the list

Snap your handwritten list. Smart Add reads a photo of a paper list and adds every item. It works on a photo of a product or a basket too.

Scan a barcode. The name, size, aisle and a picture of the product fill themselves in. Keep the camera open and scan a whole cupboard in one go.

Just say it. Hold the + and tell Roami: "we're out of milk, and grab three dozen eggs." She adds both, amounts included.

Type it like a person. "eggs milk bread" is three items. "2 lbs ground beef" keeps the amount. "Milk @ Safeway" pins it to that store.

Quick Adds and saved lists for the things you buy every time. Save the weekly shop once, add it all in one tap.

Works in English, Spanish, French and German. "Leche", "lait" and "Milch" all land as milk.

Getting things off the list

Smart Complete. At checkout, snap your cart or your receipt. It crosses off everything on your list it recognizes, then shows you what it found before anything changes. Or sweep the camera across the barcodes.

Recipes that come with their shopping list

Find a recipe, or bring one in from a website, a photo of a cookbook page, or a paste. Change the servings and every amount changes with it. Send the ingredients to your list in one tap: only what you'd actually buy, once each. No "2/3 cup, divided".

Cook Mode shows one step at a time. Say "next", "go back" or "set a timer for the rice" and Roami handles it, so your sticky fingers stay off the screen.

The 8-Ball: a plan and its shopping list

Don't know what to do this weekend? Pick a vibe (date night, game night, a home project, getting outside, a celebration) or describe your idea. The 8-Ball asks a couple of quick questions and gives you options.

Pick one and you get the whole plan: the cost and time, recipes, activities, movie and music picks, even the clean-up. The things you need to buy go on your list in one tap, and Roaminder reminds you when you're near a store that has them.

Can I take a picture of my handwritten shopping list instead of typing it?

Yes. Smart Add reads the photo and adds every item on it.

Can I add things to my shopping list by voice?

Can it cross things off from my receipt?

Yes. Snap your receipt or your cart with Smart Complete, and it crosses off what it recognizes. You confirm before anything is removed.

Can I turn a recipe into a shopping list?

Yes. Find one in the app or import one from a website or a photo, then send the ingredients to your list in one tap.

Can I ask where to buy something that isn't on my list?

Yes. Ask Roami "where can I get a bike near me?" and she'll name the closest store that sells that kind of thing. Ask "I'm fixing a broken shelf, what do I need?" and she'll suggest the usual supplies.

What can't Roami do?
